FAQ's: I think this about covers all of the questions we are frequently asked.

Answers:

1. Why register? You will have to register if you would like to make a purchase as our computer automatically generates emailed links for your downloads. We also keep track of all your purchases, which is a good thing if your computer ever crashes. You don't have to register to browse our web site or to download most free designs; however, those who are registered will receive up to date newsletters (if you check the box to subscribe to our newsletter) about new designs and freebies as soon as they are uploaded to the web site. We also send out advance notices of sales as well as special coupon codes just for those who are registered and receiving our newsletter.

2. Help! I am having a problem regiserting or placing an order. First let me apologize. Sometimes my web site hiccups, but a lot of times it can be the security settings on your own computer. Deleting temporary Internet files and cookies (remember to write down your passwords) solves this problem 99% of the time.  Allowing your computer to accept cookies from my web site helps too. See info below. Whatever it is, don't worry. Just send me an email at jennilee@digistitches.com and I can get you registered or place an order for you.

Here's helpful info for you:

  1. Please make sure you have your correct address registered at the web site. When you get to the credit card screen, our web site will automatically fill in your registered information in the billing address section. If you have not registered your address (and the screen is left blank) OR if your address and name do not match your credit card, your credit card wil be declined.

 2. Your cookies may be set to "ON" but the storage area for cookies may be FULL. Everytime you visit a web site it gives you a cookie, which is your computer's way of talking to my web site. The cookies storage area on your ocmputer can reach a maximum level. To empty the cookies, open Internet Explorer (assuming you use IE) and click on TOOLS / INTERNET OPTIONS and on the "General" tab click on the DELETE button next to "Browsing History". You will then be given a choice of what to delete. Remember to write down your passwords, then choose "Delete Files" and "Delete Cookies" to remove the junk your system has been saving. Close Internet Explorer, restart your computer and try logging in again. 
 
3. Other things that can block cookies from being stored. One is the settings in your web browser and the other thing is your "Internet Security Suite" of programs. Starting with your web browers (such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox), make sure that cookies are allowed. Go to TOOLS / INTERNET OPTIONS / PRIVACY TAB / SITES button and type DigiStitches.com into the empty box, then click the "ALLOW" button to add our site to the sites you want to allow cookies from. Click "OK",  then close Internet Explorer, then open it back up and try logging in again.

3. Order status definitions:

  • Pending: The order has been placed, however our web site is still awaiting payment to be received.
  • Processing: Order has been placed and payment has been received. Your designs are ready to be downloaded.
  • Completed: Order has been placed, payment has been made and designs have been downloaded.
  • Canceled: Order has been placed, payment was not made and therefore, order is canceled.

4. How are my designs delivered? We have instant download for instant gratification :)

There are three ways to download your order:

1. Once you make a payment through Paypal or Authorize.net you will be immediately redirected back to my web site. You will find the order summary with download links to your designs under the design name.

2. You can also go to www.DigiStitches.com and log in with your email address and password. Next, click on "My Account", which is located under the log in box. Go to view orders and click on the order # you would like to download. You will see download links under the design name.

3. Additionally an email will be sent with download links to the designs. If you don't receive an email from us, please check your spam box!--especially if you have an AOL, AT&T, Bellsouth or SBCglobal email address.

If you are not seeing clickable links in your email:

Click on "start" (on the left hand side of your computer).
Click on "Control panel".
Click on "Network and Internet Connections".
Under the "Advanced" tab: look for "Browsing" and under that look for "Underline links". Then make sure the "always" button is check marked. You may need to restart your computer for these changes to take effect.
This should make your web site addresses and links clickable.

The only thing that slows up the instant download process is if you pay with an e-check. An e-check usually takes 4 business days to clear. Once the check clears out of your account and into mine the email with download links are sent. This is Paypal's policy not ours.

5. Can you put the designs on a CD and mail them to me? At this time, we do not offer this service.

6. What if I haven't received an email with my download links? Simply send us an e-mail.  We will be happy to resend the links to you. You might also want to check your spam or bulk email folders. You can also download your order by logging into the web site with your registered information, click on "My Account" , then click on "Order History", then and click on "View Orders". Click on the order you want to download. You will see download links under the design name.

7. I can't find the instructions in my design file. I include instructions in all of my design files. If you don't see them in the design file it may be that you are viewing the design file in your embroidery software. Embroidery software only recognizes design files and sometimes JPEGS. It won't recognize the instructions that are in a Word document (.txt, .rtf and PDF extensions). Close out of your embroidery software and open the file on your computer. If you've lost your instructions, just send me an email and I am more than happy to resend them to you.

If you are having trouble printing the PDF instructions: You may need to update your Adobe Reader. Here is the link to the FREE Adobe reader download: http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/

8. What formats are available? All designs are available in ART (version 4) , HUS and PES (version 4). The newest designs are being offered in ART version 4, DST, EXP, HUS, JEF and PES.

 

 

What if I don't see my format? If you do not own conversion software, Wilcom  offers FREE conversion software. You can find the software on their web site:

Converting designs is easy, so don't be afraid to try it. Still unsure about converting files? Ila Turner at SewCraftyMe@GMail.com will be happy to convert your files to any format you need for you for a small fee.

If you are looking for JEF files:

My Bernina Artista version 6 software does not convert to JEF format, so I have hired someone to convert all my designs to JEF for me. It is a huge task as I have so many design files. If you would like to know when JEF format is available for all files, join the newsletter and I will send out an announcement as soon as the process is complete. That way we can celebrate together! :)

UPDATE on JEF conversions: It was so much work that the person I hired decided not to do it. :( Instead, she has offered to convert the files to JEF for you for no charge. You can email Ila Turner at: SewCraftyMe@GMail.com

 

9. What forms of payment do you accept?

1. We accept all major credit cards and those are processed through Authorize.net. Our web site is on a secure server as noted by the "lock" on the navbar upon checkout.

 2. We also accept cash, e-checks and credit cards through Paypal. You do not need a Paypal account to use a credit card. When you select the paypal payment option, you can sign into your account OR look on the left hand side for the credit card logos and click on "continue" to check out without a Paypal account.

 3. We do not have a mailing address at this time, so we can not accept personal checks or money orders sent by snail mail.

10. I am unsure about Paying through Paypal. Is it safe? Is it secure?  Paypal is a safe and easy way to pay for online purchases. Why? Because the merchant (the web site you are purchasing from) does not store, or have access to your credit card numbers as they do not process the payments. Paypal does not share your credit card number or bank account number with anyone. Using Paypal is much like using your credit card at your local grocery store or department store. Paypal is a secure transaction and has been in business for many years.

11. Help! I am having a problem checking out! First let me apologize. Our payment processors experience a glitch every now and then, and sometimes performs updates on their web site. Whatever it is, don't worry. Just send me an email at: jennilee@digistitches.com Please let me know which set (s) you are ordering.

12. YIKES! I forgot my password! OR I need to change my password: If you forgot your password: Click on the "Forgot Password" box on the upper left hand side of any page on my web site. It's in the same location the login button is. Next, enter your email address into the page that pops up. Your new password will be emailed to you. Once you receive the email with the new password, you will need to confirm it with the web site by clicking on the link that is in the email. Once you have confirmed your email you can shop or access your account. Please note: The new password may be a little hard to remember so....(read below)...

 
If you want to change your password: You will need to log in with your email and password. Next click on "My Account" on the upper left hand side of any page on my web site. It's in the same location the login button is. Enter your password OR if you couldn't remember your password, enter the new password you just received by email into the box that says "Old Password". Then enter, into the box that says "New Password" whichever password you would like. You are good to go.

13. Oh No! I realized I ordered a set I already have. Now what? I am happy you like my designs so much you want to order them twice! But really, just email me, and I am happy to send you another design set or issue a credit to use at a later date.

14. Do your designs come with instructions? Yep! If they are an "In The Hoop" project, they will come with step by step instructions and often a few photos we think may be helpful. The Zig Zag appliques also come with instructions as they are different than "regular" appliques. Straight up designs and appliques come with information such as stitch counts, design size as well as color charts, but I think it is more fun to choose whatever color suits your mood for the day. :)

15. What does "In The Hoop" mean? In the hoop means that the design is made in the embroidery hoop. These designs are great for customers who do not like to cut out patterns and for those of you who have very little sewing experience, although experienced sewers like them too.

16. How hard are the In The Hoop projects? They are easy! Honestly, I rarely ever have anyone email me about not understanding the instructions. Most of the "In The Hoop" designs are made in one hooping. None of the designs have templates where you have to pre-cut fabric (yuk!). Most of the projects stitch up very quickly, except for the Banner designs, which take about 45 minutes to an hour, as you are making several banner pieces all at the same time. I want you to think of my web site as the place to come for fun, quick and easy designs that your friends, family and neighbors will "gush" over!

17. Something is "wonky" with my design files. What should I do? Sometimes converting files and downloading files causes the files to become "wonky" or corrupt. Just e-mail us and we are happy to send replacement files.

18. Do you offer refunds? Due to the electronic nature of the designs, we can not offer refunds. No exceptions. Please pay attention to the design set you are ordering as you get several chances to review your order and make sure it is correct before a payment is made. It is your responsibility to know if the design will fit inside your hoop. If you resize the design to fit your hoop we can not guarantee a quality stitch out. Please pay attention that these are machine embroidery designs and NOT the finshed product for sale, so you will need to have an embroidery machine to use the designs and make the producrts you see on the web site. We are happy to replace any files that that are "wonky" or get corrupted during the downloading process.

       If you've ordered the wrong format: Please send me an email as I am more than happy to switch out the format for you at no additional cost.

       If you've placed an order and realized you ordered the wrong set, or the wrong size: I am more than happy to switch it out for what you needed, as long as the design has not been downloaded and the download link has not been clicked on. Once the design been downloaded or the link has been clicked on, regardless of whether you successfully downloaded it or not, the design can not be exchanged for another design. No exceptions. Note: when the link has been clicked on or the deisgn has been downloaded the status of your order changes from processing to completed.

19. My computer crashed....my designs are gonzo! What should I do? Just click here to send us an e-mail. Please read: We will be happy to reset your dowload links as long as you include the order # for the designs you need. Please note: I started instant download in January 2008, all of the orders places after that date are recorded in my web site and it's easy to reset and resend the links. If you need files replaced that were ordered prior to that date you will have to send me your receipts from Paypal. To find those recepts, log onto Paypal and click on "Payments Sent". You can also perform an advanced search at Paypal: Click on "Payments Sent", click on "Advanced Search" (located on the upper left hand side of the page). Enter my email address: DigiStitches@Columbus.rr.com and enter the dates you want to search.

After you download all of your designs, again, it's a good idea to back them up on a CD, jump drive or an external hard drive. Some security software will do scheduled automatic back-ups for you. I have my computer set up to back up files every night.

**Please note: I do occassionally retire designs. Retired design download links can not be reset or resent. No exceptions.

20. I make items to sell. Can I sell items made from DigiStitches designs? Yep, you sure can as long as you give credit for the design to www.DigiStitches.com You can find a complete version of my Terms and Conditions (aka copyrights) here: http://digistitches.com/index.php?act=viewDoc&docId=7

21. I make items to sell. Your photos are better than mine. Can I use your photos to sell my items? The  photos on my web site are copyrighted and can not be used to sell items that you make.

22. I make items to sell. Your description of the item on your web site is better than mine. Can I use the descriptions on your web site to sell my items? The item descriptions on my web site are copyrighted and can not be used to sell items that you make. It's more fun to come up with your own descriptions anyway. ;)

23. Do you offer custom digitizing? At this time we do not offer custom digitizing. We have so many ideas to put into stitches that we can hardly keep up. If you have a design idea you can send me an email at jennilee@digistitches.com :)

24. What kind of software do you use to digitize? We use Bernina Artista Designer Version 6. We love it, even if it is expensive! :)

25. Do you manually punch your designs? Do you have good quality designs? Yes we do. Manually punching each design allows us to eliminate unneccesary jump stitches, add special underlays to help stabilize the design and gives us more control over how the design will stitch out. Yes, it takes a little longer than auto-digitizing, but we think it is worth the wait.  We test stitch each one of our designs (including in the hoop projects) to make sure the design is perfect for your needlecraft treasure. We also show an actual, close up, stitch out of our designs so you can see the quality of the stitching. 26. Do you auto-digitize your designs? Nope. Please see above question.


27. Can I buy just one design (or 2 or 3) designs from a set?
  At this time, we do not offer single designs when they are grouped as a set.

28. When is the next sale? Any time a new design is added to our web site, it will be on 3 Day Introductory Pricing (which is usually about half of what the design regularly sells for). Other than that we have sales when the mood strikes us--although maybe this year, we will try to be more like a department store and have themed sales like "January White Sale" and "Presidents' Day Sale". We will send you advance notices of sales and sometimes a few special coupons too. :)

29. Do you have any Freebie designs? Yep, we sure do. You can find them on our web site under "Freebies". We also have a few Freebies on my Yahoo Group that are not offered on my web site: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AA_DigiStitches/

30. How do I use the Wishlist? Log into the web site using your customer information (log in is located at the upper left hand side of every page). Directly underneath the log in button is the "Wishlist" button, click on it to view your Wishlist.

On the bottom of every design page is "Add to Wishlist", click on it to add items to your Wishlist. When you view your Wishlist, you can choose to purchase any of the items or all of the items by clicking on "Add to bakset". Important: When you add an item to your basket it will take you back to the design page, where you will be able to select a format and a design size if needed. Then you can proceed to check out.

31. Where can I find a coupon code? Sign up for the newsletter to get up to the minute updates on new designs, freebies and sales. We also send out special coupon codes only available to those who are receiving the newsletter. A 20% off your first purchase coupon will be emailed to you, immediatley, upon sign up to the newsletter. If you do not receive the email immediatley, please check your spam folder of your email. *Coupon codes are not valid during site wide sales, can not be used on sale items and can not be used on gift card purchases.

32. For some reason I am not receiving your newsletters or emails. Can you help? Please add the following email addresses to your contacts or approved senders list:

If you signed up for the newsletter you should be receiving it, so you may want to check for it in  the SPAM folder of your email. If you find and email from me in the SPAM folder, right click on it and choose "Add to contacts" or "Add to approved senders list".

Your security settings may be set too high, which can lead to blocked emails or emails going into your spam folder.

You might also contact your Internet service provider and let them know that they are blocking emails and newsletters you want to receive. If you phone them, they will be able to get my emails to your inbox.

**If you have a AOL, ATT, Bellsouth or SBCglobal email address: A lot of people are having problems with successful delivery of emails to customers with these email accounts. PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER. You may need to phone your Internet provider to receive my emails as their security settings for emails are known to be very high and my emails may still go into your SPAM folder, even after you have added the above email addresses to your contact list. I know it is competey frustrating not to receive emails you want to receive, which causes you to miss out on 3 Day Intro prices, sales, and special coupon codes, etc, but unfortunately, there is not much I can do about it. :( Your Interent provider should be able to fix this problem for you.

33. How do I purchase and use gift cards? Purchasing and using gift cards is easy.

 

Here's how to purchase a gift card:

1. Add the gift card to your basket.

2. Complete the check out process.

3. Log into the web site and click on "My Account" (located on the upper left hand side of the page).

4. Click on "Order History, click on the order #. Find the gift card code, located in your order.

 

 

To use the gift card:

Upon checkout, enter the gift card code into the coupon code/ gift card code box. Click on "add".

Your order total will be deducted from your gift card.

Any remaining balance will be saved for use on a later purchase.

34. Where can I find Joann Fabric and Michael's store coupons? I do mention these coupon from time to time on my web site and Yahoo group. Both Joann's and Michael's Crafts have coupons in the Sundays newspaper. You can also go to Joann's stores and sign up for coupons there, as well as sign up on their web site for coupons they email to you. Additionally, Joann stores has a magazine that they print a couple of times a year, you have to ask for it at the service desk. The magazine has 8-10 coupons on the back anywhere from 40-50% off and the coupons do not expire until the end of the year. The magazine is $2.99, but well worth it, and you can even use a coupon to purchase it. :)

35. How can I view or download my past orders? Go to the home page, www.DigiStitches.com , and log in with your email address and password. Next, click on "My Account", which is located under the log in box. Go to view orders and click on the order #. If you need to download an order: you will see download links under the design name. 

36. My download links are expired. Now what? We appreicate if you download your designs in a timely manner, however, if your downloads have expired, I am more than happy to reset them for you. Click here to email me.
